What is Reiki and how can it help you and your horse?
Reiki literally means “Universal Life-force”. Reiki is a simple, yet powerful method of channeling energy for the higher good. It is completely safe and will never cause harm. It originated in Japan, but has fast growing audience in the Western World . Alongside self-healing, self-development and spiritual growth, it can be given a to people and animals. It helps to clear out old energy, to let go of past wounds and trauma and enhance emotional healing. Reiki can help to relax and calm you and your horse, help with behavioural or training issues and fundamentally produces a feeling of relaxation and well-being.
Numerous have found it works well alongside with veterinary care, with the horse recovering from injury or trauma quicker and with less stress or anxiety. It can also help with travel and show stress, allowing the horse to remain focused and calm.
Reiki is administered either “hands on” or “hands off”. It can even be given from a distance, from a few meters to many miles… Reiki helps to restore balance, calm and resilience. It aids with healing, enhancing our own healing abilities and those of our horses.
People book a one off treatment or a series of sessions, to give even greater benefit. We often say spending time with our horses de-stresses us. But sometimes this stress is transferred to our beloved horses. Reiki can help us to turn off that “monkey chatter” and keep the stress away from both parties, ensuring time spent together is happy, peaceful and focused. Horses often love to receive Reiki and enjoy the flow of positive energy as it flows between practitioner and horse. Horses, as you know, are very sensitive beings and are quick to pick up on the healing being administered. This often results in the horse lowering his head, yawning, even nodding off! Reiki is a wonderful healing tool that can benefit your horse physically, mentally and emotionally. “Reiki is Love, Love is wholeness, wholeness is balance, balance is well being, well being is freedom from disease.” Dr Mikao Usui
